Any ideas as to cause or a better cure?

You can solve the problem by opening the MapBasic window (Options > Show MapBasic window)
and writing this followed by hitting the Enter key on your keyboard
Set Window Info Position (0,0)
Now put the info window where you would like it to be and save the workspace again.

Open the map basic window and type in the following
Set window info position (1,1)
If the info window reappears in the upper left of your screen then the
problem is likely to be a) you are moving the info window 'out of view'
as part of your normal work
B) you have an app running that is moving the window
C) you have a 'display manager' running for your monitors
If it doesn't appear that sounds like a resources issue...check your
temp space..

Ps if the map basic text seems a bit like hard work there is a freebie
on the directions site called qikwintools that'll do it for you with a
click..
