Hi Everyone,

I am trying to open this web service:-

ows.mundialis.de/osm/service?service=wms&request=GetCapabilities

This URL is just to show it responds with the details but for the server dialog I use this :-

ows.mundialis.de/osm/service

And while MapInfo recognises the service and can retrieve the name and the layers - it will not display the map. In MapInfo 15 (the version I want to use) I get the following error message:-

But it gives the same message in the 64 bit versions of MapInfo pro as well.

This service opens with no issue in QGIS so I know it is working.

If anyone has any insight into what the issue could be then that would be good to hear.

Many thanks

Regards

Hi Martin,

Long time no speak. Hope all is good.

I think it could be to do with the service version. I seem to remember MapInfo Pro has a security conflict. At one stage MI Pro couldn't load OSM as their servers/services had been patched and upgraded but Pro wasn't compatible. That was a while ago though.

Regards

Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

It is great to hear from you – we must catch up properly sometime.

I think it is a recent change on the server as it was fine right up to a few weeks ago. So I think the supplier must have introduced a change that MI can’t handle.

I thought it was worth asking just in case someone else had got it working.

Thanks again for the reply.

Hi Martin

I only found out recently that MapInfo has a folder where the web mapping tabs are held
In a standard install it is
C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional\TileServer

And you can find OSM Roads in amongst the Bing and Precisely tabs and associated xml files.

Are you going through a German server/service though?

Hi John,

I had the same thought but they don’t open in MI15 even with amending the TAB header.

The German server was the only free implantation of an OSM WMS I found but of there are others then it would be good to know.

Hi Martin,
I am using another free German osm server, but I don't remember the name. I can send it on sunday.

Hi Martin,

I have dug the following out of an old folder - the TAB header suggests that this is MI10.5+

osm.tab
!table
!version 1050
!charset WindowsLatin1

Definition Table
  File "osm.xml"
  Type "TILESERVER"
  CoordSys Earth Projection 10, 157, "m", 0 Bounds (-20037508.342789244, -20037508.343038857) (20037508.342789244, 20037508.343038857)

osm.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<TileServerInfo Type="LevelRowColumn">
  <Url>http://tile.openstreetmap.org/{LEVEL}/{ROW}/{COL}.png</Url>
  <MaxLevel>18</MaxLevel>
  <MinLevel>0</MinLevel>
  <TileSize Height="256" />
  <StartTileNum>0</StartTileNum>
  <AttributionText Font="Font (&quot;Tahoma&quot;,257,8,16777215,0)">© OpenStreetMap contributors, CC-BY-SA</AttributionText>
</TileServerInfo>

This certainly used to work for me on older versions of MI

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for sending this:-

When I use this I get:-

The attribution is there so it is not that. It could be some other reason why it is being blocked.

(PS – I am trying MI Pro 15)
