Hey Guys,

I am currently using Mapinfo V11. I have a contour map that I want to
convert to dwg format to be used in CAD. I can convert it using the
universal translator but the labels for the contours that have been
specified in MI do not show up in the dwg once it has been converted.
Any ideas on how to solve this one?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Hi Steve!
FME does a pretty good job when labeling contour line dwg:s.
But nowhere near manual placement, or better cartographic tools.
Maybe your best option would be to export the contours as 3d lines and then use whatever system comes next for the labeling?
That would give you the most options for futher processing.

I have a sticky note attached to my computer that says - for contour
values in .dxf for CAD use - ensure z value column is called
'autocad_elevation'. So our contour tables in Mapinfo have the x, y and
autocad_elevation columns and then I use universal translator to convert
to .dxf. It works for us.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick responses!

I had a look at the FME solution and it looks like a nice program but
thought I'd give Keiryn's solution a go first as it didn't require me
to download 500mb of data. It does in fact give elevations elevations
on the contour (polylines) when an individual one is selected. Having
labels on them would be make drawing catchments alot faster but its
still a great solution! Thanks for your efforts :)
