Hi All

I often try to print maps or layouts to PDF using File->Print in
MapInfo 9.5. Unfortunately whenever I am printing a map which has an
aerial photo I always get a white stripe across the middle of the map
in the resulting PDF, which ruins it for presentation purposes. Is
there a way around this?

Regards

Hi Mike

What PDF driver are you using? How large (A0?) and what resolution are
you working in? I guess it could have to something to do with the
system running out on memory so perhaps you can chance that somehow?

Hello,

we have the same problems.

We are using Mapinfo 8.5.1
We are printing aerial photos with vector data.

When creating a PDF and Printing on A3 no white lines are shown the
Print is ok.
When printing to A3 on the same plotter the print is ok.
When printing on a Plotter A1 horizontal white lines occur on the
Print and in the print preview!!

Any help woul be appreciated.

Hendrik

Hi,
I am having the same aerials problem using MapInfo 9.0 and printing to
Adobe Pro 7.1. Along with the white stripe across the middile of the
image I also get a white stripe half-way across the top of the image,
from right to left.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Roland

Hi Christian/all

I think the driver I'm using is Acrobat Distiller, Version 6 as part
of my company's licence. I'm printing to A3 or A4 and the problem
occurs with both.

A workaround I have found is to go 'File-> Save Window As' and save
the map as a high-res bitmap (say 300dpi), then open that bitmap and
print it to PDF. This is not ideal though as one loses resolution when
saving to bitmap.

Any other ideas?

Cheers
Mike

I'm using the standard Adobe

Hi

Have you tried on a computer with more memory? I remember way back (1
year ;) when I used to print A0/A1 in a larger scale that memory-
problems could create these white areas. But again, it shouldent be a
problem when printing to A4/A3...

Saving the map as a bitmap is in no way the right way - especially if
you want to modify the different themes.

There are quite a few free PDF printer drivers around. One I use in
exactly the same way as decribed by other here with success id
PrimoPDF. www. primopdf.com

It's free, it's stable. Even my clients use it. If you go the extra
step you can develop integrations with Mapinfo to control PDF outputs
from with your own Mapbasic applications. No fancy support for layered
PDF but it gives a good result.
