Hi, I have some maps from Jordan I would like to publish. The original data I got from Jordan is shp. The *.prj file is included. I also edit the MapInfo.prj file so it shows the Old Palestine Grid.
I did at the following to the Mapinfo.prj file.
Palestine
1923
central meridian: 31.180627
latitude of origin: 34.314202
scale factor: 1.0
false easting: 170251.55 m
false northing: 126867.909 m
Like "Old Palestine Grid", 30,60,7,31.180627,34.314202,170251.555,126867.909
Now my map doesn’t show at the right place I looks like the north is ok but the east is placed in Algeria (about 3.500 km to the west) Se image
This is the *.prj file which is included with the shp file. I did try my own as well the included *.prj It still make no sense. I added a shp file also
PROCS["Palestine_1923_Palestine_Grid",GEOGCS["GCS_Palestine_1923",DATUM["D_Palestine_1923",SPHERD["Clarke_1880_Benoit",6378300.79,293.466234571]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0],UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]],PROJECTION["Cassini"],PARAMETER["False_Easting",170251.555],PARAMETER["False_Northing",126867.909],PARAMETER["Central_Meridian",35.21208055555556],PARAMETER["Scale_Factor",1.0],PARAMETER["Latitude_Of_Origin",31.73409694444445],UNIT["Meter",1.0]]
.
Cheers Peter

Hi Tony,
I don't think it's possible to add a new datum to MapInfo and I don't think its part of th exsistinglist of datum's used in Mapinfo.

Hi Uffe,
I got the it from the internet where else ;) I can can see there's an error so i edit it to
"Palestine Grid", 30,60,7,31.73409694444445,35.21208055555556,170251.555,126867.909
Now I'm having a problem with the datum I used (60, Narhwan, Saudi Arabian, Clarke 1880) but maybe it should be another? Is it possible to add a new datum at all? Here's what ARC-GIS comes up with se below for "Datum: D_Palestine_1923"

If i use Universal translator the data ended up at the coast of Turkey..
