How do you open a raster file in jpg2 format that is accompanied by a
j2w world file?

If you have MI >= 7.5 you just have to open the *.JP2 as raster file.
MI will ask for the projection, that you MUST know, then a *.TAB will
be created with the good localisation (MI uses the *.J2W for doing
this).
nb: if your file is named *.JPG2, rename it as *.JP2

Maurice,

That's what I thought it would do, but it doesn't.
It works with jpg's and jpw's but NOT for jp2's and j2w's

Any Ideas?

If your problem is the localisation (you can see the raster in MI but
it's not at the "good" place) and if you have just one *.JP2...it will
be faster to write the *.TAB file ...by hand !
You need the informations of the *.j2w file AND the size (in pixels)
of the raster (with IrfanView ?) AND the raster projection.
If you want, put here the 6 lines of the *.j2w file, the pixel size
and the projection of your raster: me or somebody else will create the
*.TAB for you

Can you see the image in MapInfo at all? If it's is just a matter of
creating the TAB file from the J2W files, I wrote a MBX many years ago
(before MapInfo would read world files) that will help. It's called
TabWorld at:
http://www.greenwoodmap.com/software
It will not recognize the J2W, but with a little work it will get the job done.
First copy all your *.J2W files to *.TFW files.
Run TabWorld, selecting the correct coordinate system for your imagery.
You will now have a set of TAB files that contain the correct
georeferencing parameters, but will be looking for TIFF images, So
open the TAB files in a text editor and change the .TIF references to
.JP2.

Installing and loading MapImagery into MapInfo solved the issue and I
can now open the file formats.

Many thanks.
