I have two tables, a list of points and a list of postcodes with
National Grid References.

I need to find the distance from the postcode to the nearest point and
return a value, i'd also like to have a value for the 3rd nearest
point.

I'll probably need to do some analysis then some tinkering in Excel?

just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Cheers

The Distance Calculator tool will do this.  It's under Tools, Tools Manager.

Have a look at this Distance Calculator tool that you can find in Tool Manager.
That can calculate the n nearest distance between objects in two tables

The Distance Calculator tool which comes with MapInfo will do just this.
" This program calculates the distance from all the objects in one table to all the objects in a second table or itself. It then returns the closest or farthest distance(s)."
In your case, you'll want to find the 3 nearest points in your point table for each postcode centroid. It's probably easiest to use a pivot table in Excel to extract the smallest and largest distance for each point from the results.

Cheers
