Ok.  I am filling in for out GIS guy and am a MapInfo noob.

I have received a number ARC GIS files from a client including ASX, DB2, DBF, PRJ, SH2, SHP and SHX (one of each).  I opened the SHP file into MapInfo Pro (the new one; 32 bit).  A Tab file was created.

The accompanying map browser has loads of data on it.

The client says I should have all the data points of interest and various bases (sat imagery, topo map, surficial map).   All I can see is black lines for the surfical map.

I cannot open any other file.  Are the 'missing' data included in the other files I cannot open?

Thanks in advance.

Shape files are normally dbf, prj, shp, shx (for vector data).

Images are normally one of jpg, tif, bmp, ecw, jp2, png. Some of these can have embedded georeferencing. If not, there will be a small ASCII file with the same name as the image, but a file extension that has the first and last letter of the image extension plus the letter 'w' meaning world file)
e.g. A TIF image will have an associated TFW file.

I couldn't find anything useful about asx, db2, or sh2 files. They aren't shape file formats.

Ross
