I just tried to use the Apply Structural Symbols option in the Discover Data Entry menu.  The default option selects all the styles (weird?) but when I select the one style I want and enter the Dip, Dip Direction and Discover Code (not sure what this is anyway) and then Apply - I get the error message "Please select the structural style you wish to apply" which is what I have just done.  I am using v12.0.3 and have checked with another user who gets the same error message. Is this something that worked in a previous version and doesn't now?   I am used to using DigData and this is my first foray into the Data Entry menu options.  Help please!

Thanks

Hi Dawn,

Does your data have a x y dip, direction and disc code, only based on these values you can execute the structural symbols tool.

first you need to convert your data entry into points assigning the right projection.Hope this helps.

Hi Dawn,

See Appendix E (I think for your 2012 version?) called Styles and Symbol fonts. You will need a column attributed with the approproate Structural code therein (e.g. Bedding = 1, Cleavage can be 41-49 depending on its orientation and chronology, Younging = 7, etc), so Discover knows what symbol style to apply. See also Chapter 21 of the User Guide (for v2012).

I'm afraid that I think the sequencing of the drop down menu for Data Entry is out of whack!  The User Guide doesn't explain that the table structure is all important - it is only the online help that says certain columns are needed AFTER the description of the style select options!   I always look at the Manual when I cannot get something to work and it doesn't talk the new user through the steps in order.   Thanks for your help Alex and Ktg - hopefully the next iteration of the User Guide and drop down menu will be more intuitive....  Dawn
