Hi (web) mappers,

Today I have released a tool to export a MapInfo Table to a web page using Leaflet.

You can find the tool - MapInfo2Leaflet - here: http://www.twiav.nl/php/tools.php#lflt

It is just a very first version, only exporting point data at the moment, but I thought it about time to ask for your opinion.

A sample web page can be found here: http://www.twiav.nl/LeafletSample/FR_Airports.html
(this is just output from the tool, uploaded to my web site. The files (html, GeoJSON and css) have not been tweaked manually after running the tool.)

Some documentation: http://www.twiav.nl/files/MapInfo2Leaflet%20User%20Guide.pdf

Test data is included, and yes, everything works fine with these test data :-) How does it work with your tables?

BR,

Egge-Jan

Very nice, Egge-Jan. However, since you're converting the TAB points layer to geoJSON, you could load that into pretty much any web mapping API. Leaflet is very good, but some may want to, or be obliged to, use something else. How about support for clustering next so that the practical number of points can be increased?

Hi Warren,

Yes, you are right: part of the outputis a GeoJSON file, so you could use the tool as a TAB2GeoJSON converter (point data only at the moment), just picking up the *.js file and using it somewhere else.

And your question about clustering: you are referring to marker clustering here? I think there is a plugin for Leaflet for marker clustering. Didn't have a look at it yet.

Egge-Jan

For TAB to GeoJSON I would use ogr2ogr, for sample:

   ogr2ogr -f GeoJSON MyFile.js MyFile.TAB

It is working for the test data only. I cannot manage to export my files such as polygons, or points.

Could you help me please.

Thanks,

Hi Ammar,

The latest version of this tool can be found here: http://www.twiav.nl/php/tools.php#lflt

Can you please tell a little bit more about what steps you have taken and what goes wrong?

BR,

Egge-Jan

Hi,
I've downloaded the tool ManInfo2leaflet and installed the .mbx program as a tool, but have difficulties creating a thematic map using polygons - no map appears in the final html screen.
