It should also show th info data on the google earth similar to the info tool on mapinfo.

Arjuun,

MapInfo have a utility that will convert tabfiles into KML format.  You can download it from their website -

and then click on the 'MapInfo Professional Additional Resource Area' link to download the tool.

When I tried that utility (GELink) I had a problem that the background
was not transparent so I got a large white block with MapInfo onjects
on it, sat on top of GE. Any suggestions?

Hello,

It sounds like you are not selecting the objects you want to export.

The utility will either export the map window as a .jpg image (that
would give you the white background), or as KML objects.

Select the objects you want to export; when you choose Map->Google
Earth Link-> Export to Google Earth, you will have the choice of
exporting as a jpg image, or exporting as KML objects.

Hope this helps,
C. Bates

Something for those planning a transatlantic trip...

1) Go to http://maps.google.com
3) Click on "Get Directions"
4) Enter "Atlanta" in the FROM (left) box.
5) Enter "Paris, France" in the TO (right) box.
6) Hit the "Get Directions" button.
7) Scroll down the turn-by-turn directions list to #22.
8) Start endurance training. :-)

Well, ask a silly question and at least they have the sense of humor to
respond in kind!
