Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had manage to refresh a linked table in Proviewer

My scenario is that the user run a query in an Access DB to create a table
that has coordinates - I want the user to see this result on a map.

When I open the workspace it contains the result of the last query not the
current one - In MI pro I can do a refresh and that works.

I have tried added a Server refresh statement to the workspace and I have
tried adding the run command 417 for the table refresh both fail when trying
to open the workspace.

I have tried a live cache option but proviewer will not open the workspace
or table then.

If anyone has any other ideas then that would be great

Hi Martin,

I think this is one of the limitations which comes with the FREE
MapInfo ProViewer.

In the MapInfo ProViewer Help file it states clearly:
'You cannot refresh linked tables, although ProViewer can display the
copies of the records contained in the local table.'

A workaround would be to use MapInfo Professional instead of MapInfo
ProViewer :-)

Hi Martin,

If you need to stick with proviewer I would ditch the linked table set
up and manually create a new Mapinfo table each time. You should be
able to write some VBA that calls a Mapbasic script to create the
tables, user would just need to click a button in an Access form that
runs the script to create the table then opens Proviwer automatically?
