in Mapinfo 10.
go on the layer window. right click on the title of the window. You'll get the options of renaming the window and adding a group layer.

regards,

and if there's any soldiers and veterans in this group.
Thank you...

In Layer Control, select the map name and right-click and select 'Add Group'.  This will add 'Group Layer' to the layer control, which you can then re-name to something more meaningful by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Rename'.  You can add layers into the group by dragging individual layers and dropping them into the group layer.

Hello GROUP,

I am wondering whether there is an automate wayin Mapinfo to do the next two targets:

Extend the lines of the roads so that they will touch the motorway road.

Cut the circle of the roundabout where the circle intersects the lines of the roads.

I am sending an image to show one example.

Thanks a lot,

Bárbara

... and you can right click an existing group layer to add a group layer to this group layer...

When you create the group layer you can give it a new name at once. You just need to delete the default name or add to the default name.

And if anyone wonder how to create a group layer thru MapBasic, this can be done thru the Map statement and the Add Map statement.

Map From item [ , item ... ]
where item = table | [GroupLayer ("friendly_name" [, item ...])

Add Map item [, item ...  ]
where item = Layer table [ Animate ] | [GroupLayer ("friendly_name" [, item ...])

Have a look at the MapBasic help for details

Barbara,

from the image, i am certain that automating it is possible if your tables have enough attribution to make a distinction between the roads, rundabouts and motorway roads.

however, a series of questions also comes to my mind:
1. How many of these have to be done? If not much, your better off having it done manually...
(my guess is that our interns(with our developed tools) would be able to get about 25(individual runabouts) done in an eight hour shift.)
2. Is this a repetitive task(week, monthly or annually,) that would require automation? If so, then you need to find somebody to have it coded.

I could probably get the code done in about 4-8 hours depending on your data attribution...
please let me know...
