Hello all,  Been a couple of years off the list.

My colleague found a new (to us) legend output problem yesterday.  When exporting a layout window to any image format (JPG, TIF, etc) with a bar-chart thematic legend, the legend contents blow up to about 5x normal size.  The frame stays the same, so you just see a small fraction of the legend bars zoomed way in – renders the output useless.

This is not the same as the legend truncation that occurs when using Thematic Legend vs. Legend (that one still bugs me).

Any tips on a fix?  We’re trying to output the legend separately then recompile the map in Photoshop, but that’s no fun.

Thanks!

Hi Will,

I think you can solve this problem if you use a resolution below 147 dpi

That is an intriguing answer and will try it – but it would leave us with a very poor quality image for printing.  What is the situation behind that bug?

Hi List
A personnal solution (difficult to translate for a poor french
speaking; hope you will understand...)
1- you know the DPI of your screen ---> say 96 DPI
2- in the dialog box "export", take a note of the number of pixels
(width) that produce a 300 DPI export (but do not export !)
3- change your export for 96 DPI but put in the dialog the number of
pixels (width) of step 2
4- export
The image will have the same number of pixels than a 300 DPI one (-> a
good resolution) ... without blow up of bar-chart or pies !!
