Hi All,

I would like to download a vector file from open street map (osm file) to tab file.

What is the easiest way to do so?

is there a MBX that Converts osm files to Tab files?

Many Thanks,

Hila

Check the open street map wiki
There are several people who regularly convert osm files to shapefiles
for their own geographic region.
You could download a shapefile then convert it to .tab.

Hi,

GDAL should be able to convert it to TAB directly:
http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_osm.html

Get it from here:
http://www.gisinternals.com/sdk/

I haven't tried this, so I can't comment further on it.

Regards
Uffe

Another one to try from PolygonGIS

http://www.polygongis.com/index.php/2011/01/06/osm-translator/

I'm sure I've used it in the past, but can't remember how well it worked! Or, use QGIS and save as tabfiles...

QGIS uses GDAL/OGR under the hood. But it may not be an ideal way to
translate a possibly large OSM file.

Alternatively you can download as ESRI shapefile and open that directly.

Hi,

All the SHP file versions I have seen, are cutdown with lots of information / fields left out or seriously outdated. Stick to downloading OSM from geofabrik.

Hi!
You could take a look att FME from Safe Software.
http://www.safe.com/solutions/for-applications/openstreetmap/
I have not used FME for OSM data myself, but I am confident it will solve your problem (and add much more to your GIS toolbox)
