Hi all,
Does anyone know how to convert a Tif/Jpg image that has been
registered in MapInfo (it has a tab file) into an ECW file and keep
the referencing?
I can convert the image to ECW and register in MapInfo, which creates
the tab file but how do I get this information into the ECW file?
Regards,
James

I use software called Global Mapper. It's great for conversions etc of
a multitude of file types. And is economical. A good one to have in
the GIS war chest.

On the MapInfo install disk there is an optional piece of software
called ECW Compressor 2.2. It converts a georeferenced raster to an
ECW file. Remember to open the .tab file in notepad and change the
referenced file extension to .ecw so that MapInfo will find the
compressed file. This has worked well for me with Discover Mobile.
