Labels in MapInfo

Can anyone tell me how to force a line break in auto labels? I am
using the expression builder in Layer control to do this but I am
unsure what is the correct syntax to use.

try adding chr$(13) to your string where you want the line to break. So
your expression would look something like this
field1 + Chr$(13) + field2 + Chr$(13) + field3
