Dear MapInfo Group

In the past, we had access to a Knowledgebase article that showed the steps to create a mask that allows you to hide map data outside of a polygon or to make it translucent.

Does anybody know the procedure for this?

We tried using the Mask.mbx tool but found that the mask frame could not be expanded or ended up distorting the shape of our polygon.

Regards.

Hi Vin,

This is my method, there are possibly more elegant methods.

Create a new table called mask.tab. Create a polygon for this table. To keep it simple I usually just create a square, a bit larger then the map window or you can make it as big or small as you need, as long as it suits your area of interest.
Then make mask.tab editable and under OBJECTS menu use SET TARGET. Then select the polygons from the table that you don't want to be covered by the mask and under the OBJECTS menu again use ERASE. Save mask.tab and you now have a "mask' that you can set your style with.

Hope that helps.
