I assume that you make the bulk of your income from custom jobs for
corporate clients, and that Map Builder on the web is just a loss
leader to bring in those jobs. That makes sense. Why not keep it that
way.
I do run a few ads on my site, but I make sure they are appropriate to
my site's content and don't overwhelm my visitors. If you start
running ads I would lose that control.

I wish you had done an announcement for it instead of it just randomly
showing up. It's unclear whether the ads are just on the MapBuilder
site or if they'll show up on maps we'll deploy on our sites.
At this time, it doesn't appear that the ads show up on the deployed
maps. If they ever did, I would have to look for another solution (and
there are other solutions out there even if they aren't as good as
MapBuilder).
Other points - Because it appears the map area has been enlarged to
support the ad space, it's unclear what area is the user's working
space (i.e. what appears in the final map). It's also disconcerting
how the ad changes with each click. Oh, and the service is so
distasteful that I have no desire whatsoever to use your advertisers'
services.
MapBuilder is such an awesome service and implemented so well, I wish
you would find a better way of implementing the ad service. Perhaps
serving up more-traditional Internet ads (outside of the map) for the
free service and then offering ways of turning it off (i.e. your
premium service or a certain contribution to PayPal).
Again, I really appreciate your site. I appreciate its utility and
understand your need to cover costs. I hope my input will help you
reach your goals. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Ryan
We'd like to clarify couple issues.
1. Deployed maps (regardless of implementation) are ads-free.
2. There will be no ads embedded by MapBuilder into distributed/
deployed maps whatsoever. So please enjoy using ads-free maps.
3. Map ads appear on the MapBuilder site only (main map and hosted
maps accessible through booming maps and search).
Also we are working on some upgrades to make MapBuilder and
distributed maps even better. Stay tuned!

I would worry that you might stop supporting the service if you got no
financial remuneration from it and could not afford more staff to
improve the service.
I think most of the serious users would agree. I suggest three
services:
1. Free
2. Small business - certain number of maps, email support, etc
3. Corporate - unlimited maps, chat support and other possible extras.
Having a very good service is very important and to be fair a small
sum would not effect us but might make a real difference to you

4) you should clean up your forum group and get rid of the porno/spam.
Just a suggestion... it's disheartening enough that many questions
seem ignored... that there is spam in the group just makes it seem
more obvious that ya'll are not present in the group very frequently.
I understand you are busy... but this is part of your business, too,
don't you think?

We are doing our best to support mapbuilder.net, answer questions
posted in this group and fight spam content.

Users should have a free export feature and furthermore it's already live. Please
log-in into your mapbuilder.net account top see it in action.
