Failed to edit or delete the requested Road

This message appears when I try to edit this segment:

So when I try to add new road wich intersect this road with the
problem, I get the "Failed to create feature"

same error "Failed to edit or delete the requested Road" is causing
trouble editing.
Following road section is failing to edit with the above response.

- to get some workaround I tried deleting all the road sections
connecting to it. but it's is intact there and is not able to edit or
delete, neither it is allowing any other road section to connect to
it, nor allowing to extend.

I was just about to create a turn on it from the Campus Road [South-
West]. And found this this issue.

Please resolve ASAP

above road section is also containing some malfunctioned information
that is causing trouble in editing process like above are doing

Please fix it ASAP. and also if would be better if you tell that where
the error actually is? I did see many of these and also also reported
here as well but still they are getting on and on.

many drawings are pending due to these errors .

Infact it would be better to make a guide on these errors and the
reasons how and when these errors are mostly occured. So that the
mappers could really be careful when making edits on the mapmaker and
avoid such approaches which could cause mapmaker unexpected behavior.

I agree. Seems to be a huge proglem because there is a month now since
i first saw this kind of problem, and today the problem persist. We
wait a fix, but the truth is that nobody actualy was able to told us
what was the problem and when this would be fixed. Still, I hope,
because as i said in previous messages, and as you KA wrote, many
roads are pending due to this errors. And my worst fear is that those
many roads interuppted (in my cases) by thiserror could be translated
to google maps and then a lot of work was for nothing.

I just found that an other thread with the same error was posted later
and I guess the errors listed in that thread have been fixed. but I
think this list of errors have been overlooked.
Can you please reconsider all the above errors as they have still not
been fixed and aren't letting mapping in any way.

I'd like to move this intersection and add two more road segments. I
deleted the other roads to this intersection as I was trying to
accurately map a major roundabout at the location.

I can't even add a new road in this area - keep getting "Failed to

Can you fix the above issues? Deleting the offending road segments
connected to that intersection is OK with me - I will happily redraw
them (that's what I was doing anyways).

A side-issue with the history of a road (not sure if related to the
main problem). The road segment here:

shows that I changed the number of lanes from 1 to 0, when in fact I

need to do to get rid of a "Negative note" that another user
incorrectly attributed to one of my edits?

2. I've seen cases when edits were marked as abuse due to this bug.
Users would check out history tab and mark an edit as abuse due to
this seemingly incorrect change. The bug is reported in May last year
- will it ever be fixed?
3. Negative notes: so are you saying in other words that the
moderation system is wide open to abuse? How can I prevent a malicious
user from rating all my edits as negative? Sure, you may suspend his
account, but he couldn't care less. "What's done is done" is not a
valid answer, sorry :)

I'm sure every error is being considered, but the errors i reported have now 2 months and as I specified, because of this error a european/national road cannot be drawn, and it's the main road of the country. So most of directions are screwd because the routing cannot be done trough this road.

I saw that many of the same kind of error have been fixed, but not those two of mine. I don't have the skills to tell what's the problem and why those errors were fixed and these two not.

This is my latest post about these errors, because i wrote so many about them. sorry for bugging you out.

I'm back with thanks that the firs segment of road I mentioned about was fixed (one of Google MapMaker Moderator was able to edit that segment) and now that intersection is ok. 

But the second piece of segment wich is about few houndred meters downwards, wasn't fixed so i'm guessing this was slipped away.

Deleting the selected segment gives the infamous "failed to edit or
delete.." error.

Can be fixed by deleting the offending section(s) in the area, I'm
reworking the intersection anyways. Just post here when it's done, so

I may have an idea why this problem happens. Earlier the motorway had
been represented by a single line, and so I added turn restrictions to
prevent turns across the centre barrier. I later deleted a segment,
and that seemed to cause the "failed to edit or delete" message to
occur. Note that in the first URL I provide below, there are two
segments of the westbound RN3 to the west of the ramp that are also
now getting the "failed to edit or delete" message, after I deleted
and redrew a road (Chemin Bernardin, a local road that wasn't supposed
to touch the RN3; I had previously added restrictions to prevent the
connection until I could get around to redrawing it). If you can fix
those, too, that would be great.

Hi All,
We have corrected the "Failed to edit or delete" error for most of
the links posted on the forum and Issue Tracker. Can you please let us
know if all the posted links are working.

There are two causes of this error:
- Deleting a road section that already had turn restrictions: To avoid
this, we should remove the turn restrictions of intersecting roads
before deleting them. A big thanks to Graydon for bringing this to our
attention !

- Intersecting different linear features: This message will also be
shown when different linear features like 'Road' and 'Railway' are
intersected. It is best to 'Cancel' the edit if we notice intersection
of dissimilar linear features. Otherwise, we need to explicitly delete
individual faulty segments near such intersections.
