Props to whoever has been doing all of the building mapping in
Highland Park. Your productivity is impressive!

Yes, definitely! Although he's had some help, stucki1 has done the majority of the buildings in the area. Great job!

with addr:housenumber

Yes. Major props to both stucki1(Highland/ West 7th) and Ian (Uptown and Marcy-Holmes). I've been slogging along in the Midway with Potlatch 2. I would very much like to watch the technique they are using with JOSM and the building plugin.

Demo?

I have also been hitting Uptown and the lakes area with Potlatch2. I
was using Merkaartor for a while, but need to download a more recent
version. I tried JOSM on my MacBookPro, but wasn't super psyched
about it.

The Hennepin high-res leaf-off imagery has been excellent for buildings.

If people aren't aware of the WMS layers available through MnGeo, you
might want to check out this page:
http://www.mngeo.state.mn.us/chouse/wms/wms_image_server_layers.html

It would be great if some public entity would make their address data
available under a license compatible with OSM.

Any thoughts on a local 'project of the month' concept? What if we
looked at one of the error finders like MapLint or MapDust and picked
a class of errors to fix. Maybe focus on routing errors?

David.

I'll try to make a howto video for tracing buildings in JOSM later this weekend. Are you guys able to at least run JOSM, or should I include some troubleshooting steps for Java and JOSM?

It's been a while since we last got together: I wonder if there's a good time and place for us to sit around and do some mapping together. Perhaps we could apply some addresses to all those buildings we're drawing? That's pretty boring and tedious, so I'm open to something more exciting.

I've heard rumors that the city of Saint Paul is considering releasing their address point data.
