Como sounds great as I live only six blocks from it. I would prefer to start earlier to maybe finish up by 2:00 or so to still have some of the afternoon left.

Could someone remind me of what minimum level of equipment is required to be able to partipate? Maybe this would be good information to have on the webpage.
Thanks,
Liesa
This isn't official, but I'll give my opinion.
The minimum I'd suggest (again, not official) would be paper and
pencil. If you did this, you could take notes as to where things are,
and update points of interest at desktop computer when you return
home.
The maximum you'd probably need would be: GPS that stores a track log,
digital camera (remember card reader or transfer cable), Laptop
computer, internet access (cellular data, wifi, etc), software
pre-installed (JOSM, or another). Anything in between the minimum and
maximum would be helpful.
The openstreemap website has a "Howto" document on having a mapping
party: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapping_Weekend_Howto
That page has a list of what they recommend for a good mapping party.
Some of us have extra hardware as well, like GPS, laptops, etc. So,
if you show up with nothing at all, there still be may things to do.
