Hi everyone,

What do you think about getting into the Winter swing of things by having a mapping party at Como Zoo on Saturday morning? The weather forecast so far shows a fairly decent 40 degrees and cloudy, so it shouldn't be too bad with a warm coat and mittens.

Once we wander around outside with GPS, camera, and pencil we can retreat to their cafe (which has wifi). If I get a good amount of interest in this mapping party I'll even spring for some coffee or hot cocoa.

If you're interested, please respond to this e-mail!

Mapping Como Zoo
Saturday, November 20 @ 10am

I'd go. Sounds like fun.

What type of features would one map at a zoo?

Benches, water fountains (bubblers to us Milwaukeeians), animal holding areas, paths, buildings, vending machines, light poles, food vendors, trees, gardens, etc.

Basically, anything we can see.

I'll try to be there. We'll see what my toddler's schedule is tomorrow.

Is there a specific place that everybody plans on meeting?

The marketing person I contacted at Como Zoo recommended that we get together in the cafe (since they have free WiFi there), so:

Let's meet at 10am-ish in the cafe area.

Wow, you guys are making some great progress.  I wish I could have made it.  It's fun watching the new features show up on the map.  I hope I can make it to the next mapping party.

Thanks for coming out, guys!

Anyone have any ideas for our next location? Now that it's getting chillier it would probably be good to map an indoor area like a mall. The latest Wherecamp in Denver had a mapping party at a brand new ski resort, though, so that sounds like fun to me :).
