Hey all

Been a very good couple days getting settled in Nairobi! Thanks for the welcomes.

We hung out with Levis on Friday, discussed just about everything, learned of some exciting media openings, and got to hear Levis sing!
Saturday had dinner with Mark from UN-Habitat, and Kipp and Philip from SODNET .. they already knew each other through Google :)
And today, went over to the SODNET offices, which will be generously available for Map Kibera trainings and mappings .. a very very good resource for us!

I'm spending tomorrow morning getting a phone and 3g internet connection .. and gonna get some mpesa!

EVENTS

Training: We've received an offer to run a training with ActionAid this week, who have a group in town researching and learning with folks from Ushahidi.
This is a good opportunity to do a trial run of the mapping parties, and start to get everyone on the team familiar with the process.
We're looking to organize for Wednesday, from 10am - 2 or 3pm.
Let me know if you're interested to attend,  or if you know someone else who's interested.
This may be held at the ActionAid local office in Westlands, pending some logistics.

Dinner: Want to organize a big dinner on Friday evening. Any ideas on a good locale?

And also there's apparently an Ushahidi meetup tomorrow eve, which I may crash ;)

MEETS

Over the next couple days, have as top priority to meet with
-Fahamu (Yves .. available tomorrow or Tuesday?)
-Carolina for Kibera,
-Kibera Community Development Agenda (Kipp, when's good for them?)
-UN Habitat.

Especially want to meet *Pamoja Trust*. Seems we have many many connections to them.
Want to talk to those folks working on mapping projects. Can we set up a meeting?

Levis, we're due to check out the venues you've located.

HOME PAGE!!

We've removed the redirect to the wiki, and launched the home page of http://mapkibera.org/ !!
It's intended to give an overview of all the ways to get involved, all our media streams, the map and the team.
Please (please!) give feedback and suggestions on how to improve this page.
Tonee, if you have the volunteer flyer sorted, let's get it posted up there soon.

OK that's it .. sorry for the big flow here, but it's happening!

Cheers
Mikel

Hey Mikel,
Was great to finally meet in person the other day. I mentioned Umande Trust who have done some GPS data collection in Kibera already. Don't have access to my cards here in UG but I believe Josias is the one you should ask for, email is in...@umande.org.
cheers,
Mark
