Correcting Google maps and associated information in the UK

I am most impressed with the quality of the increasing number of
Google mapping features, including the very recent arrival of Street
View for the county of Suffolk here in England. With local knowledge I
have noticed a few mistakes and wanted to play my part by informing
someone of these to get them corrected, or editing them myself,
subject to moderator approval. I have found no way of doing this, am I
doing something wrong, or is this not yet possible for the United
Kingdom? If not yet possible, have you any idea when it will be
possible? (I have just seen a map on here that suggests that this
service is not yet available for most of the countries in Europe,
including UK, France and Germany.

Thanks for your interest in mapping UK. While this country is not yet
open for editing in Map Maker, please be assured that we are working
on opening up Map Maker for all of the world. Please see the list of
countries currently open for editing: http://maps.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=155415.
We will update the above page and also post on this forum when new
countries are open for editing.

Map data found in Google Maps and Google Earth for the countries not
open in MapMaker is sourced largely from data providers. To report
errors in these countries, you can check the data provider in the
bottom right corner of the map and report this error directly to the
map-data provider. We cannot guarantee individual corrections in the
immediate future, but please be assured that we are working with our
sources to consistently refresh the data.

Thanks MMG, I have been looking for this info. I wish there was a link
to Tele Atlas on google maps itself. I have to find their website by
google search and then contact them. Thanks.

How long until the UK will be available in Map Maker. I live in North London and I've noticed many mistakes in my local area. My local hospital (Barnet General) is a complete mess, the roads around it  bear nothing to the satilite image and the pink shaded area of the hospital is wrong. Also there are parks, businesses and footpaths missing and bus stops and roads that don't exist. Please open Map Maker in the UK. Thanks.

Hi, I asked precisely the same question some time ago with regard to areas that I know in East Anglia and Yorkshire where I've noticed numerous errors. It seems that Google is not interested in making it possible for us to contact them, or to correct errors on their maps. It is a great achievement for Google Maps to have reached their present state, but accuracy is also important, and local people do have a contribution to make, if only Google will let them!
