I have some questions that I would appreciate the google team
answering.

First of all, is there a way to make building like this:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=39.943928,-75.183727&spn=0.001014,0.001486&z=19

In mapmaker, or even like this?:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=53.198115,50.136516&spn=0.006337,0.011888&z=16

Second of all how are the other countries, that are not available on
mapmaker, mapped? I can see that these unavailable countries like the
UK are mapped [almost] completely and the features in each country are
unique, for example the colour that indicates a highway, different
symbols for places like hospitals, and even the whole design of the
google maps itself e.g Japans intricate detail on zooming in:
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=35.681518,139.765363&spn=0.004296,0.005944&z=17

Are there google specialists in each country that are assigned to map
their region, or is the mapping done from one place? Is the countries
government involved (e.g North Korea is not mapped) and if so is the
mapping left to them sometimes? And last but not least is there a way
to employ google mapmakers for a particular region e.g Southeastern
Nigeria who are linked to accurate information and who will be left
with the freedom to make mapping for their area unique and relevant
for the people around there, e.g Nigeria is the most populous country
in Africa and Lagos is the biggest city and it would be helpful if the
country had accurate mapping for directions as this country has
millions of cellphone and internet users who would happily use an
accurate google map of their country. At the moment the countries map
isn't anything to be excited about:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=6.16718,6.665955&spn=0.336556,0.380402&z=11

The capital city, Abuja, is not even visible among the indicated main
cities, Neither is Port Harcourt:

Thanks in advance.

Dear Anom,

Thank you for posting these questions! I've tried to answer them all:

OK first off regarding the 2.5D buildings (the first link you list
below), no we don't have 2.5D display of buildings in Map Maker today.
I agree that would be a great addition in the future. Please add that
request to the issue tracker! http://code.google.com/p/google-mapmaker/

For countries that aren't open for editing in Map Maker, the maps you
see on Google Maps & Earth typically come from 3rd party data
providers.

Google's local mapping specialists are our wonderful users who care
about representing the places they know and love accurately and richly
on Google! Anyone can map with Google Map Maker -- individuals,
humanitarian organization personnel, government employees, etc.

If you are dissatisfied with the maps of Nigeria, please help improve
them by using Map Maker and making people you know in Nigeria aware
that they are empowered to improve the maps of their homeland.
Encourage them also to participate in our Global Mapping Competition:
http://mapmaker.google.com/competition

Cheers,

Jen.

Thank you for the reply, I have made edits on Google Map Maker, when
do you think they will be published on Google Maps?

FAQ#3

Question #3: Why is Map Maker data not yet on Google Maps or Google
Earth ?

Answer: Data created using Google Map Maker continues to be
updated periodically on Google Maps and Google Earth. See this Map
Maker help topic http://maps.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=155666
for a list of all the countries where Google Maps has been updated
with Map Maker data, together with the date of the last update. We
cannot commit to specific dates for this data to go live on Google
Maps due to the fact that it requires a bit of technical processing
before the data can be published on Google Maps.

You can also see all Google Map Maker data on Google Maps using
this mapplet. http://maps.google.com/maps/mpl?moduleurl=http://www.google.com/mapmaker/mapfiles/s/mapplet.xml
