Morena All

I'd like to guage the feeling of this group and promote some
discussion, as to how we, the Maori GIS Forum, can assist in the
Natural Resources Sector Geospatial Capacity Planning Project to
ensure that iwi are well represented.

Project mission statement as follows:
MISSION
Ensure an adequate pool of geospatial information and systems
capability exists within the Natural Resources Sector.

Most importantly, I'd also like this group to think about how iwi can
capitalise on a project like this.

Food for thought.

Nga mihi

Tena koe Roland, where can I find out more about this project. I assume it
was discussed at the ESRI conference which I was unable to attend.

Kia ora Dean

I only found out about it on Friday.
I believe that there is a meeting today which Paul Langman (TPK) is
attending so hopefully he can provide more context after the meeting.
I only wanted to raise awareness as there is recognition from some of
the CIO's attending that Maori need representation.
On another note there was some good discussion around getting GIS into
schools at the ESRI Conference.
Although nothing concrete came of it, it's something that I'd like to
see discussed from an iwi point of view at the next Maori GIS hui.
