in your opinion, how did Wilhelm Ott's metrical analyses of Vergil's
poetry influence Vergilian studies, especially scholarship on the
Eclogues? I have in mind Ott's work from the 70's, such as Ott,
Wilhelm. 1978. Metrische Analysen zu Vergil, Bucolica. @Materialien zu
Metrik und Stilistik, 9. Tübingen: Niemeyer? A preliminary search on
Google Scholar and Google Book Search shows Ott mentioned mostly in
literature on literary computing, and (unsurprisingly) in German
classical studies.
