Ourstructured programme is delivered in schools and colleges by our trained Envision staff. Each team of young people is partnered with a group of mentors who support them to design, develop, and deliver an in-school youth social action project that will make a positive change in their school or college.

Our 12-week, secondary programme supports Year 9-10 young people to develop their essential skills. We run two cohorts per year: the Autumn cohort runs from October-January; the Spring cohort runs from February- May. Schools can register 12 young people per cohort (24 young people per year).

Structure:

Weekly in-school sessions are facilitated by an Envision Programme Coordinator. Young people work in teams to design, develop, and deliver a social action project that makes a positive change in their school community.

At mentoring sessions, our Programme Coordinators facilitate sessions in the workplace at a local partner business to allow young people to work with mentors to develop their skills, confidence, and raise their aspirations. There are 4 mentor engagements throughout the programme.

In our Teacher Led programme, we work with teams within the same year group from schools across a Multi-Academy Trust to design, develop, and deliver in-school social action projects. The programme runs across 12-weeks and is designed to promote cross-school collaboration. Each school can register up to 12 young people to be a part of a team.

Envision hosts three cross-school events: the Launch at the beginning; the Pitching Challenge in the middle; and the Final Presentation at the end. School staff support teams to complete the project by running weekly sessions in-school.

Structure:

The programme begins with a cross- school Launch Event, where teams from each school will come together to learn about the programme and decide which topic or issue they wish to address.

Back in school, they will continue designing their project and prepare for the Pitching Challenge, where they will pitch their plans to a panel of judges to gain seed funding to develop their projects and make a real impact in their schools.

Now in its seventh year, the Envision UC Davis campus visit program enables California's most promising grad school hopefuls to develop an understanding and appreciation of graduate education. The program sponsors California senior undergraduates and recent bachelor's degree grads for an action-packed weekend on the Davis campus, allowing them to envision their future as a graduate student at UC Davis.

The program is open to California residents who hope to apply for graduate school in the next two years and allows them to envision their future as a graduate student at UC Davis. Envision seeks to eliminate the barriers that prevent underrepresented students from successfully entering and completing graduate school, and encourages applications from individuals who have perspectives or experiences of groups who are historically underrepresented in higher education.

Accommodations, most meals, and transportation subsidies will be provided for all accepted participants. Those who complete the program will be granted an application fee waiver should they choose to apply for admission to a UC Davis graduate program.

Envision UC Davis was born out of our shared vision to create a more diverse and talented workforce at UC Davis, in the State of California, and across the nation. We will reach our vision by increasing the diversity and talent pool for students prepared to enter graduate school.

"The Envision program was a crucial part of the reason I chose to attend UC Davis. I got to meet my prospective advisor, explore the campus, and learn a lot more about the admissions process. As a first-gen college student and an Envision alum, I highly recommend this program and hope to help others consider becoming an Aggie!"

- Daniel Castaneda, History Graduate Student

"While I was already considering applying to UC Davis for grad school, Envision showed me that I would fit in at Davis and would feel comfortable and welcome across campus. Envision was where I first learned of the interdisciplinary graduate groups unique to UC Davis that aligned with my research and career interests. I truly believe I'm a grad student at Davis because of the administrators, faculty and graduate students I met through this program."

- Ravinder Kang, Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry Graduate Student

As an Envision UC Davis participant, you will have the opportunity to envision yourself as a graduate student at UC Davis. Apply to explore life in one of our 50+ graduate programs or unique interdisciplinary graduate groups.

ENVISION is a 3-year project funded through the 2017-2018 Belmont Forum and BiodiveERsA joint call under the BiodivScen ERA-Net COFUND programme. The ENVISION project will result in the development of several communications and policy tools to identify, compare and balance the multiple visions for any given area. ENVISION will also enhance understanding about social and ecological consequences of protected area management with an aim to facilitate reflection on future growth and landscape change.

The Convention on Biological Diversity is a multilateral treaty with three main goals: the conservation of biological diversity (or biodiversity); the sustainable use of its components; and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources.

ENVISION uses a variety of tools and processes that emphasize local and regional participation, engage diverse groups, and facilitate reflection on future growth and landscape change.

In partnership with local residents, protected area managers and diverse industry groups, ENVISION will examine the consequences of multiple visions for protected area management in four case study areas.

The consortium of ENVISION includes universities, a small enterprise, and an international organization. It has been carefully selected to include experts in human and natural systems from across Europe and beyond with complementary expertise in social and political science, agricultural advice, economics, ecological and biological modelling, political ecology, and participatory approaches.

ENVISION actively engages local, regional and national protected area managers, policy makers and businesses in research related to inclusive conservation through four site knowledge alliances and one inter-site knowledge alliance. What are the site knowledge alliances?

The Envision programme will consist of three in person events taking place across three Saturdays in May, June and July on the UCL campus in central London. The events are free to attend and a packed lunch will be provided to all attendees. You can find the application form at the bottom of this page.

If you are awarded a place on Envision but the cost of travel would be a barrier to you attending, and you meet the criteria of our travel support fund, we will fund or part fund your travel to and from the UCL campus so that you can take part in the programme. The travel support fund will remain active whilst funds are available. To be eligible for travel support, you must be attending a state school, live outside of a London Borough and meet one or more of the criteria listed in our participant travel policy.

The Envision programme consists of three key events taking place in person on the UCL campus, as well as an online launch event and an online event specifically for parents and carers. Please see below for the event dates and an indicative timetable:

Participants for this programme will be selected using the shortlisting criteria found on the Who we work with webpage to prioritise young people from the least represented groups. You will be awarded points based on the number of criteria that you meet. Applicants with the highest numbers of points will be offered the places available on the programme.

The deadline to apply for Envision is 10am on Monday 29 April 2024. Any applications received after this time will not be seen. It is advisable that you complete the application with a parent/carer nearby, as they will need to complete some sections of the form.

Kumba Iron Ore Limited ("Kumba") is delighted to announce the first maturity of Envision, its broad based employee share scheme with 6,209 permanent employee members. Envision has been valued at R2.665 billion at the conclusion of its first phase. This follows a share swap of The Envision Scheme's 3% shareholding in Sishen Iron Ore Company ("SIOC") for the equivalent Kumba shares.

Kumba CEO, Chris Griffith noted: "Envision is a broad based success story, an empowering initiative and something which we at Kumba, are immensely proud of. Envision sits alongside our diverse broad based empowerment initiatives and sets a benchmark for empowerment goals and ideals in our country."

Employee members who have worked for Kumba over the five-year period since the Company's inception will receive R576 045 (for their holding of 3,365 units in Envision). This equates to an after tax payout of R345 627, based on a marginal tax rate of 40%. The majority of Envision's employee members have elected to receive the cash sum and can look forward to their Envision payout in December, instead of the equivalent in Kumba shares, which is the alternative option. This value has been calculated based on a five day weighted average of the Kumba share price prior to the official close of the first maturity on 17 November.
