Hello,

I am new to Mantaflow, and have some basic questions to ask.

1. I looked into the case lidDrivenCavity.py and karman.py, and found that function cgSolveDiffusion in karman.py, which appeared in lidDrivenCavity. Does this mean the viscous term is neglected in karman.py?

2. How does the buoyancy calculated in mantaflow, for example, in simpleplume.py? Is it just proportional to density?

3. Is there any documentation about the governing equations for some of the test cases in scenes folder?

Thanks,

Xiangyu

Hello Xiangyu,
1) Yes - exactly, most of the mantaflow scenes are "stable fluids" like solvers (https://www.cs.ubc.ca/~rbridson/fluidsimulation/fluids_notes.pdf), i.e. we're aiming for an as low viscosity as possible, only relying on numerical diffusion.
2) That's the boussinesq approximation (linearly scales with density).
3) Robert's course notes above should help there as well.
I hope that helps, cheers, Nils
