Manonethra - Multiple disability- Awareness about Blind+ Autism

Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet a Low Vision cum Autistic boy in Sivananda home for the disabled, Jeera, Secunderabad. This is the first time that I am dealing with a person with multiple disability. We have to create awareness among the society to deal with disabled people in their natural environments. They should be integrated into normal society. If we feel for the differently abled, only rehabilitation home/ hostels are the way out, then we cant move much in this direction. Then the differently abled become a community by itself and will have mental barriers integrating with normal society. Even the normal society lacks skills dealing with differently abled. So, orienting the society is need of the hour. I hope in our communications will have a word about inclusive society.
