Suggested ride for Thurs starts/finishes Chatswood Metro. Travel by metro to Tallawong Station (coffee available), then ride via Kellyville to Bella Vista Farm. From there we mainly follow cycle tracks to Parramatta where we find lunch.  After lunch follow the PVC to Meadowbank Station.  (Option to catch the train or ride home).

Plan to meet at Tallawong Station ~10:00 ready to ride.  Forecast is for possible showers and will post go/no-go by 07:30 on the day.

Let me know, Tony

A great ride Tony ... My tracker told me that I had climbed 1,320 metres in total yesterday (plenty of "little" hills!) which I think is a bit of a one day record for a ManMos ride.

Interesting, Tom. Ride with GPS recorded 391m cumulative elevation gain between Tallawong and Meadowbank.  Where did you start and end your record?

Definitely don't like Ride with GPS!

My start and finish was Mosman and included the Metro ride but indicated that the App was "paused" while I was on the train. It does sound rather a lot but I'm going to stick with Apple and their fitness App which is very clearly much more objective and accurate.

You are ready for mountain biking now Tom .🚴🏽 🚲
Several mountains and peaks around the world have an elevation of approximately 1300 metres (\(1,300\text{m}\)), including: [123]
  • Mount Wellington (Kunanyi) (Tasmania, Australia): Rises to just under \(1,300\text{m}\) and is frequently covered in snow.
  • Mount Tomanivi (Fiji): The highest mountain in Fiji, at \(1,324\text{m}\).
  • Black Jack Mountain (New South Wales, Australia): The highest peak in the Moonbi Range at \(1,300\text{m}\).
  • Ben Macdui (Scotland): While its highest point is \(1,309\text{m}\), it was historically estimated at \(1,300\text{m}\) and is the second-highest peak in the British Isles.
  • Mount Barney (Queensland, Australia): Features a \(1,300\text{m}\) elevation gain and is a, popular hiking destination.
  • Mount Timbertop (Victoria, Australia): Listed at \(1,300\text{m}\) in regional trekking guides. [123456

Hi Tom

If your bike computer was on while you were in tunnels, it would have recorded the depth from underground to above ground. If you go through a mountain pass, by tunnel, it records the height of that mountain!
Try the same ride again with the computer off when on the metro.
Just a thought 😊.
Natalie

Yes and No. The computer indicated it was on pause and certainly didn’t record any horizontal distances …?!
