Hey some of you may know some people who would be interested in this!

 


The Manitoba Environmental Youth Network is launching our new Environmental Youth Mentorship Program.

 


Our program provides     approximately $1,000 in funds,     a project mentor, and various     other resources to get your students/youth group actively working on an     environmental, science, or social project.

Our science mentorship     program offers the opportunity for students to go outside of Winnipeg into the     field and work with a mentor biologist on surveying and     sampling, birds, aquatic invertebrates, water, plants and insects. This     program is Free, and transportation is provided. Starting May 2012.


Mentorship projects may include;
Composting     project
Water     Conservation initiative
Environmental     and Art
Students will work with local artists on creating educational      art around environmental topics. Art prints will be distributed to      schools and businesses to create awareness. A gallery show will showcase      the art.
Student proposed     projects

 

TheMentorship program will bring together experienced and trained leaders with studentsand youth to start working on a tangible project starting September 2012. Please express interest in participating before May 4th 2012- Please forward to your networks

Benefits: 
Leaders have       experience working with teams and can help smoothly facilitate projects.       This means less work for teachersand students!
Leaders       have experience in implementing a project and are trained in areas of       grant writing and fund raising
Youth       will gain experience and knowledge in areas of the environment
Youth will gain important life skills from leaders which can be       applied to future careers
Your school's social       community and reputation will benefit
Part of the program        will include media publicity, ect.
Communities will benefit from projects which aim to increase       environmental health, education, and the social well being
