This week's newsletter is hitting your email inbox a day early because we will have a very busy day on Sunday!  We hope you can find time in your busy schedules to join us!

At 11:30am on Sunday, July 26th, the Manistee County Democratic Party will be cleaning up our assigned mile of US31 that starts at Maidens Road and ends just south of the Bear Lake Village limits.  We will meet at the abandoned gas station on the east side of US31 just south of Bear Lake. We do this community service a few times per year to help keep this portion of the highway clean of litter and representing the true beauty of our county to everyone who travels this busy stretch of highway each day.  Many hands will make light work so we can finish in time to get to Arcadia for the parade!

At 1:30pm on Sunday, July 26th, the Arcadia Daze celebration parade kicks off. This short but lively parade celebrates the summer in this quaint village on the shore of Lake Michigan.  We are always met with enthusiastic support from the folks along the parade route. This year with our BLUE WAVE float featuring the 27 feet tall "Anxious Voter" waving away, we expect similar responses.  Please consider coming out to walk with us in this parade tomorrow afternoon. We will be assembling with the other parade entries on the south part of Lake Street.  

On Monday, July 27th, we will be livestreaming the debate between the two Democratic candidates for the US Senate from Michigan.  The debate begins at 7:30pm.  The Manistee County Democratic Party campaign office at 319 River Street in downtown Manistee will be open at 7pm so come early and get a good seat. We will be joined by reporters from the NY Times who will be interested in hearing from us how we feel the debate went for each candidate and why we are supporting our candidate of choice in this race.  It will be an interesting opportunity to feature Manistee County Democrats opinions by a national media outlet.  Please bring a snack to share and a drink of your choice.  We will have plenty of ice-cold Orange Crush to savor while we listen to the candidates.  One of them will be our selection to go to Washington and work to Crush the Orange cult leader's regime of chaos, corruption, and cruelty!  

Members of the Manistee County Democratic Party have received their ballots to select the 2026 Don and Marge Jennings honoree. There are five excellent nominees on the ballot, and we need to have your selection returned no later than July 31st.  Get them in the mail tomorrow or drop them by the River Street campaign office which is open 11-5 daily!  We are also excited to announce that our keynote speaker will be Eli Savit, candidate for Michigan Attorney General.  Eli is another statewide candidate for you to meet and get more information from prior to the November 3^rd election. We also just received confirmation that we will also be hearing from Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Megan 

Cavanagh.  Tickets for this event on Saturday August 15^th can be purchased using this link: Don Jennings Award Dinner  If you prefer, you can purchase your $75 tickets by mailing a check to MCDP Dinner PO Box 65 Manistee, MI 49660.  This is our annual major fundraiser, and all the proceeds go to supporting local candidates who will run to represent Manistee County voters.
