Manistee County Democrats:
Robert Reich states the current political situation better than I ever could! I hope you are getting his daily emails. His writing is worth your time to read and ponder.
It’s been a hard week.
U.S. missiles and bombs have so far caused at least
1,168 civilian
deaths in Iran, including 188 schoolchildren. Six American service members have perished.
A direct line connects this violence with the U.S. government’s violence
over the past year against people in Minneapolis, Chicago, and other American cities. And with the violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Behind it all is the vicious bully now occupying the Oval Office.
If you’re feeling angry, you’re not alone. I see it in your comments. I’m
struck by how you are fighting back against this tyranny, nonetheless.
Below is a message from Judy Cunningham. She is the primary protest organizer and maker of "good trouble" for the Manistee County Democratic Party !!
OUR last NO KINGS protest rally in Manistee had 925+ folks who loved America enough to rise up to protect our democracy, our constitution, and our freedom.
This time we have seen much worse emerge from the chaos, corruption and cruelty of the Trump regime. Murders of American citizens, deaths at detention centers, and now an illegal
war.
We need a much bigger crowd to reach the goal of 3.5% of our population and the tipping point for the collapse of the Trump dictatorship. So we will need each and every person
to join us for this peaceful demonstration of our love for our country and our hope for a stronger democracy to emerge. Plan now to join us on Saturday March 28th at 10am where we will stretch on the west side of US31 from the corner of First Street
down to the bridge.
We intend to have the River Street campaign office open seven days a week starting in early April.
We are always looking for more volunteers who are willing to work with a team mate to staff the office in 2-hour shifts. All you need to do is greet visitors with a welcoming smile and tell them about how Democrats are working for the greater good in
Manistee County. Please give Jo Hall a call at
231-723-0125 or email her at
jo.hall...@gmail.com.
We want to thank all of you who have already donated to help us finance the two billboards
that will be on US31 visible both north and south bound in Manistee from July 1
st to October 31
st supporting Democrats up and down the ballot. We still need more donations which you can do by mailing a check to PO Box 65 Manistee,
MI 49660 or using this link:

Save the date! Thursday March 19th 7:00pm in the West Shore Community College building on River Street in downtown Manistee we will be hosting a presentation recognizing and celebrating the hard work our township
and City clerks do to ensure we have free and fair elections in Manistee County. The presentation will be led by Marie Wick who is a retired City Clerk of East Lansing, Michigan, widely respected for her integrity, administrative expertise, and unwavering
commitment to democratic principles. Over the course of her public service career, she became known as a meticulous steward of local government operations, especially in the administration of elections—ensuring transparency, accessibility, and trust in the
process. In retirement, she has continued to shape civic life as an outspoken advocate for free and fair elections across the state of Michigan. Her work focuses on strengthening public confidence in the electoral system, supporting nonpartisan voter education,
and promoting policies that protect every citizen’s right to participate in democracy. Marie’s voice carries the authority of lived experience, and she uses it to champion accountability, fairness, and civic engagement.
