MANISTEE COUNTY DEMOCRATS!

Chris Swanson, candidate for Michigan Governor, will be in Manistee at the Outsider Restaurant on River Street from 12noon to 2pm tomorrow, Monday, July 20!  Come and hear what he has to say.  Come and question him about your major issues and concerns.  See if he is worthy of your trust, support, and vote.  We are bringing these statewide and regional candidates to Manistee County so the voters can become more educated and decide for themselves who will best represent them, their families, and their neighbors in Lansing and Washington.  

Garlin Gilchrist, Michigan Lieutenant Governor and candidate for Michigan Secretary of State along with the Michigan Democratic Party Voter Protection Team will be presenting a Voter Education Briefing via ZOOM on Tuesday, July 21^st at 7pm.   This briefing will cover key information and official resources necessary to ensure a smooth, safe, secure, and fair voting experience for constituents.  Attendees will receive reliable, up-to-the-minute details and critical updates to enable them to navigate the election process confidently.  An educated electorate is what we must have to overcome the lies and misinformation being spread by the Trump regime as they try to disrupt the 2026 midterm elections.  Use this link to register to attend:  https://www.mobilize.us/teammichigan/event/965640/

The Feeding America Food Truck will be at the Lakeshore Baptist Church (behind Burger King) on Wednesday July 22.  We need your help at 10am to bag over 8000 lbs of groceries to distribute to over 300 food-insecure families in Manistee County.  With a great crew of helpers we are always done by 12 noon.  Many hands make light work!

On Friday July 24 at 7pm the Manistee Indivisible group will be holding a peaceful vigil to remember the two innocent men who were shot and killed by ICE agents in the past weeks as well as the 52 detainees that have died in ICE detention centers since the start of the Trump administration.  The location for this event is still being finalized.  Please watch your email box and social media platforms to be informed about the location.  

Join the BLUE WAVE float featuring the 27' tall anxious voter in the Arcadia Daze parade at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 26.  We had a great time at the Bear Lake and Kaleva village parades.  Lots of positive cheers and very few negatives.  Arcadia has voted blue the last few elections, and we need to be in this parade to support our Democrat friends in this village. Join us and show the folks along the parade that Manistee County Democrats are loud and proud!  

Members of the Manistee County Democratic Party have received their ballots to select the 2026 Don and Marge Jennings honoree. There are five excellent nominees on the ballot, and we need to have your selection returned no later than July 31st.  Get them in the mail tomorrow!  We are also excited to announce that our keynote speaker will be Eli Savit, candidate for Michigan Attorney General.  Eli is another statewide candidate for you to meet and get more information from prior to the November 3^rd election.  Tickets for this event on Saturday August 15^th can be purchased using this link: Don Jennings Award Dinner  If you prefer, you can purchase your $75 tickets by mailing a check to MCDP Dinner PO Box 65 Manistee, MI 49660.  This is our annual major fundraiser, and all the proceeds go to supporting local candidates who will run to represent Manistee County voters.
