Manistee Democrats:
The email below provides you with direct links to the current Michigan State Representative, State Senate, and US Congressional Districts under consideration by the Michigan Citizens Reapportionment Committee (MICRC).
I have reviewed each of these and provided feedback using the links. You can do the same.
Here are my observations and concerns:
i. I have entered my concerns and recommend others follow suit.
i. In all three maps, O’Malley who lives in Lake Ann, would not be representing Manistee County in 2022.

Subject: Redistricting Update 10.11
Hi all,
The MICRC voted to cancel their Tuesday (Oct.12) meeting. The commission will not meet again until the public hearings next week.
The commission also updated its public hearing schedule.
Sign up to speak at a meeting near you or give virtual public comment at any of the following locations.
Public Hearings:
Wednesday, Oct 20. TCF Center Detroit
Thursday, Oct 21. Lansing Center, Lansing
Friday, Oct 22. TBA, Grand Rapids
Monday, Oct 25. Treetop Resorts, Gaylord
Tuesday, Oct 26. Dort Center, Flint
Here are the collaborative maps that will be going forward to the public hearings. The MICRC decided to give each map a tree designation to help with organization.
State Senate:
· 10-07-21 SD RAS BK - Cherry
· 10-08-21 V1 SD - Spruce
· 10-4-21 v2 SD - Elm
State House:
· 10-08-21 v1 HD RAS - Pine
· 10-08-21 v2 HD - Peach
· 10-08-21 v1 HD - Oak
Congressional Map:
· 10-07-21 v1 CD AE - Juniper
· 10-08-21 v1 CD RAS - Birch
· 10-07-21 v1 CD DC - Maple
Individual commissioners are trying to get their individual maps uploaded to the website by Thursday (Oct 14) for consideration during the public hearings.
Commissioner Szetela released a state Senate map today that unpacks Washtenaw County. 10-10-21 V6 SD RAS CORRECTED. It does not have a tree designation.
You can leave comments directly on the proposed maps. Please consider highlighting areas of the state that are drawn well, while expressing disapproval in maps that continue to lean to the right giving Republicans an unfair advantage.
Helpful Links:
Back in the 1970, this area had a rep named Ed Giese. When redistricting was done in 1980 he no longer represented the bulk of his then district. So he moved and ran and won.
