Manistee County Democrats:
During my professional career I was fortunate to work for a company that employed many smart, innovative, and creative people. They had great ideas that I eagerly and readily plagiarized and utilized successfully in my own operations. I am finding similar
skilled people in the Michigan Democratic Party! My friend Bill Allen, Chair of the Wexford County Democratic Party, recently sent this message to his members. I simply changed the names to focus on Manistee County. Thank you, Bill!
Ringing in the New Year
A Message from the Chair
As one who rarely makes New Year resolutions because I tend to make them too daunting, I came across a suggestion today that makes sense: a one-word resolution. Focused. Manageable. Powerful.
So, I thought I would pass mine along and encourage you to join.
My one word for 2026 is COMMIT.
And, if you do not have any urgent need to commit elsewhere, let me suggest that we all can increase our commitment to the Manistee County Democratic Party (MCDP).
Here are some specific things we each can do in 2026 to move forward together:
-
-
Attend Manistee County Democratic Party monthly information meetings on the third Thursday at 7pm at the West Shore Community College building on River Street in downtown Manistee;
-
Donate to help the MCDP Billboard Project or the River Street office;
-
Regularly open this weekly Newsletter;
-
Attend our scheduled political and/or social events;
-
Join a MCDP committee;
-
Volunteer with our community service initiatives;
-
March with us in the Manistee, Bear Lake, Onekama, Kaleva, Copemish, and Arcadia community parades this summer;
-
Join us this summer and fall for our roadside pop-ups;
-
Volunteer in a local/regional political campaign;
-
Make a one-time or recurring
donation to the MCDP;
-
-
VOTE as a registered MDP member at the state convention. VOTE in the primary election on Aug. 4. VOTE in the national election on Nov. 3.
So, in 2026, let us END THE CHAOS, WORK TOGETHER, AND VOTE DEMOCRAT!
I hope you all can agree with me that this is an enormously powerful message that sums up perfectly how we can all be better focused on winning in 2026!

Check Out the MCDP Silent Auction Page!
Our online auction site is a new way to raise funds while giving our members and friends an opportunity to acquire some new treasures that others may no longer have a use for. I recently got a GREAT deal on a desk chair that I am using while I write this newsletter!
Here is the link to check out what is available on the auction site today:

Plan to Attend the MI2CD ZOOM Meeting!
The Michigan Democratic Party Second Congressional District (MI2CD) meets on the second Saturday of the month via ZOOM. The primary purpose of this committee is
to recruit and support a Democrat to represent the people living in the 20 rural counties in this district in Washington, DC. You are welcome to join via ZOOM using this link to learn more about the candidates for US Congress and also from candidates running
for state-wide and regional offices in 2026.
I hope your first week of this new year treats you well and I hope that you are as fired up as I am to get the good work we need to do in 2026 under way!
