Trouble to add variables by mutate

Hello manipulators,

When I run the example code of mutate (https://dplyr.tidyverse.org/reference/mutate.html), it did not make new variable... 

Is there something wrong in this code?

> head(mtcars)

             mpg cyl disp  hp drat    wt  qsec vs am gear carb

It did make them. I’ve highlighted them below. 

You need to save your new dataset and then you can examine with head()

mtcars2 <- 

mtcars %>%

    as_tibble() %>%

    mutate(

       cyl2 = cyl * 2,

       cyl4 = cyl2 * 2

     )

head(mtcars2)
