Hi all,

Manhunt will be back as a monthly event this summer! OK. That’s not the reason I’m cranking up the ol’ email list.

It’s a little last minute as I’ve been busy, but you may already know that City Council is looking at a new draft public spaces bylaw this week. The bylaw would add to our awful policy of giving out $250 jaywalking tickets by adding more fines for things like spilling your drink in the wrong place or riding a bicycle across grass. It would also include a new fine for any event or gathering of more than 50 people that doesn’t have a permit. You can imagine that this is bad for events like Manhunt! It’s an attack on our ability to navigate the city, organize with community, and be a good neighbour to those who are already suffering.

Anyway if you have a chance today or tomorrow, please write to your councillor and ask them to oppose the new bylaw. For Manhunt!

Climate Justice Edmonton, Independent Jewish Voices, Tawâw Outreach Collective, and Public Interest Alberta have put up a tool to quickly do this here: https://win.newmode.net/rejectbylaw20700.

Thanks!

Adam
