A few days ago Joe Miller on his getgoing
nc.com site reported that
the bridge over Little Lick Creek had been installed. Sections 14 and
15 of the Falls Lake Trail are now connected though the connection
will be even better next month when ramps are installed.
Section 15 is one of my favorite parts of the trail. Gentle rolling
trail on pine needles, few rocks and roots, and very expansive views
of Falls Lake make for a rewarding 4.7 miles one way run.
Access to where Section 15 meets 14 can be found in on the east side
of Durham. Take Patterson Rd north from NC98 two plus miles, turn
right on Rogers and park where the road makes a hard 90 to the left.
Follow the blue circle marked powerline dirt road a 1/4 mile down to
the white circle marked Falls Lake Trail (and the bridge).
