I just talked to the lineman who is working the problem. One phase of the three on Mangum St on our block is dead. He’s working his way back up the block to find out where it dies.
He basically said that we could *probably* turn the breakers back on, except for the very real chance of it frying the motors in all of our heat pumps if they try to run while only 2 phases are operational.
Assuming he figures it out & fixes it shortly, it seems wise to leave everything off. The heat pumps on the roof aren’t wired through the apartment panels, as far as I know, at least on the front building. (It occurs to me that I’m not entirely sure how they are wired — the roof just has disconnects, and not breakers . . . hmm)
I’m open to counter arguments and in any case, all the breakers are on the exterior of the building, so no argument is really needed, anyone can turn stuff off or on. :) — just don’t turn my apartment (302) back on!
