In "The Grammar-Thug Manifesto," I developed a convoluted and
punctuation-heavy style of portraying the Stream-of-Consciousness
voice, showing off the mind's interruptable train of thought. I
pursued it much more gently in "The Empty Parenthetical Set" and more
playfully in "Exodus 14:27 & 14:29," but employed it much more
aggressively in "For Stains on Heron." I am planning on writing a
large serial-chapter project using this style, to be called "The
Captain of the Watch." I have already written 5 Chapters (or
Episodes, as I called them) of it. However, in a conversation with a
coworker today, I realized that readability and comprehension could be
a problem for readers. Some of you have already read the "Captain of
the Watch" Episodes, and expressed great interest in the fast-paced
and nutty storyline. Since I will need to rewrite the text (to update
time-sensitive elements like the Clinton-Lewinsky jokes), I thought I
would engage in some reader-response discussion. How is the
convolutedness of the four texts listed above? Is it too messy to
follow? Does it frustrate your efforts to merely enjoy the content?
Or does it merely take some getting used to?

I think it'd take some getting used to but if your style conveys what
you mean, in that case "the mind's interruptable train of thought,"
then the reader will keep up & figure it out. Admittedly, I haven't
read any of your work in years, sorry Todd, but I'm familiar with it.
You crazy nut.
