I have a problem with my Canon PIXMA MP230.
The problem is that when I want to print a file, it goes to the print queue, but it does not print, printing appears stopped.
I clarify that I have the drivers installed but it still does not work.
I had a similar problem with a Canon printer (Pixma IP7250), which worked fine with Ubuntu 18.04 and 19.10. But with kubuntu 20.04, it did not work at all. I finally found help in this forum, in the terminal I typed in
I have had the same problem for a long time after upgrading to Ubuntu (Xubuntu/Ubuntu studio in my case) 20.04: my Pixma mp230 accepted print jobs, proudly announced "rendering complete" (in the log file) and just as proudly refused to print. I have tried to fix it a couple of times, but it failed miserably and was not a great priority these past few months.
The proposed theory behind it is that ippusbxd "creates" a "ubuntu"-printer which interferes with the original printer/printer drivers (in the reviewer's case a Brothers printer, in my case a Canon Pixma mp230).
You might also want to read these related questions where more knowledgeable people than me explain how all printers now are "network printers" or something like that. Apparently removing ippusbxd isn't the most elegant solution, but as long as it works I'm happy :-)
But...it still didn't print. So I unplugged it so as to reset the Wifi. The light was blinking. That stopped that, but still didn't print. So 'Delete'd it from the GUI with the intent of reinstalling it automatically again, like it had done a few seconds before. AND now, it doesn't show up in the listing of available printers attached to USB like it had the first go round.
Try to download the official tar.gz from canon-asia.com (I had to choose the MP237 instead of the MP230, but that works too) , uncompress it, enter into the recent created directory, and then execute the following command:
This is what I did. I use Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit, and have absolutely zero knowledge in Linux... or anything to do with IT actually. So for those of you who are as lost as I was a few minutes ago, and can't seem to work it through Terminal, I hope this will help.
Had the same issue. I downloaded this and this, then used the Archive Manager to extract them. Then I got to the extracted folder in Terminal and used sudo ./install.sh or sh install.sh, whatever worked. Then I ran the command scangearmp in Terminal to load the scanning software (sadly it doesn't seem to work with Simple Scan).
Check 2: Are there any foreign objects in the rear tray?
If there are any foreign objects in the rear tray, be sure to turn off the machine, unplug it from the power supply, then remove the foreign object.
Check 3: Is the paper curled. In this you need assistance to repair your canon mp230 printer. If you have any query related to this error, you can post a question here ( )
Power on your Canon wireless printer after you have removed it from the packaging. Insert the ink cartridges when prompted on the screen. Your first printer ink cartridges are included. If you have a computer already connected to a desktop or Windows XP, skip to step 7.
Follow the CD setup instructions on the screen. Have the printer find the actual wi-fi network signal that you will be using and select that on the printer screen and on your computer. The wi-fi light will be on when the network is connected.
Go into printer setup and search for a printer connected via network on your computer. This may take a few minutes. You must enable printer and file sharing on both computers before you will be able to view a USB connected printer on a network.
1. Replace the empty ink cartridges.
Canon recommends using new genuine Canon cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities.
Please view the compatible ink cartridges for your machine using our PIXMA ink finder.
NOTE - Since the information contained in the fax may be lost if it is printed in this condition, the received fax will not be printed and will be stored in the machine's memory until the ink cartridge is replaced. You must manually print out faxes that were stored in the memory. You can change the setting so that the received fax is forcibly printed out instead of being stored in the memory, but all or part of the fax information may not be printed because of the ink out condition.

Itend to install every I come across. Maybe I like it. But maybe I don't, and over time a lot of stationery has accumulated in my stationery folder, making it ever more difficult to find the ones I like. Time to do some cleaning!
Click on the down arrow on the Create Mail button.Select Select Stationery from the menu.In the list of stationery that comes up,click with the right mouse button on any stationery file you want to delete andselect Delete from the pop-up menu to remove it.
Note that this will not remove any files associated with the stationery (like images and sounds, for example), but it will certainly help you keep the list of available stationery in Outlook Express clean.
I have an MX870 with an iMac quad core running OSX 10.6 and a net gear router. I don't use a USB cable because the run would exceed 15' because of the way the furniture is layed out where the computer and printer are, and the USB cable is too long to power the connection. This has happened with every printer I've used. However, the printer/computer and router are all physically within about 6 feet of each other at most (I'm just trying to avoid running a USB cable directly across the carpet in the middle of the living room). So I use the wireless printing option. However, even when i have a document that is composed of nothing more than 1 black and white sentence and nothing else on the page, or a envelope that I'm putting nothing more on than an address, it always takes between 2-3 minutes from the time I hit print, to the time the paper comes out of the printer. Even with wireless printing, this can't be right. There has to be some way of speeding up the process. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks
In some cases, third-party security or firewall software may be blocking or restricting port traffic or programs causing unexpected results such as inability to install or loss of functionality. Check with the software manufacturer for information on unblocking ports or adding exceptions for specific programs.
When the Fit-to-Page copy function is enabled, you can copy the original in the size automatically enlarged or reduced to fit the selected page size. In this case, the original is copied with borders on the plain paper and without borders on the photo paper. Cancel the Fit-to-Page copy function to copy the original in the same size.
The print queue screen displays various kinds of information about the print jobs listed in the print queue. It can indicate whether the queue is working or not (in the blue title bar of the screen). It can report the status of each print job (spooled, printing, deleting, or error messages). It also lists the owner, the number of pages, and the size of each print job. The sections below tell how to check the status of a print job and how to clear jobs from the print queue when print job(s) may be "stuck."
If a particular printer is having problems, the first thing to check is the status of the print job, which may indicate the cause of the problem. Write down the status message so as to report it accurately. Many of the print queue error messages under the Status column are described in the last section of this document, COMMON PRINTER PROBLEMS. Look up the error messages in that section for suggestions in solving the problem.
Click the Start button, then Settings, then Printers.Find and double-click the desired printer name listed in the Printers screen. The print queue screen will appear with the currently printing print job at the top of list and allpending print jobs listed below it.Look at the top print job's status message. (You may have to drag the column separator to the right to see all of it).
