How to send text and HTML emails?

Integrating Mandrill right now (over Sendgrid) to see how it works. HTML emails seem to go through fine, but are text emails automatically generated by Mandrill (like MailChimp does it)?

By default, text parts are generated automatically by Mandrill, though it's a bit different than the way MailChimp does it.  However, it won't generate its own text part if you provide your own, and you can change the default from your sending option settings in the app.
