Audio Kontrol and mandalas

I've got my mandalas running through NI Audio Kontrol 1, I'm waiting
for battery because it is on back-order. Things are working, but I'm
getting that pop and crackle through the speakers. I don't know how to
make adjustments because the AK-1 driver takes over the vitual
brain..also the mandals just..well, shut off. Is this some kind of a
safety feature? Does anyone have these things working? haha

Pop and crackle are a direct result of audio driver settings
configured to a level that strains your computer's audio
capabilities. If you are PC make sure you have I/O Vector Size and
Signal Vector Size set high enough to not cause crackle when you press
the Test Tone button. Mac just requires the I/O Vector Size setting.
All those options are in the Virtual Brain Audio/Pad Driver Window.
If you need to make changes in some kind of AK-1 control panel first
just click the 'Devices' or 'Control Panel' button in the VB Driver
Window.

 Thanks, I have to tweak the I/O and signal vector, I know, but I don't have a crackle when there is a test tone. I have a crackle when I hit the mandalas and when I touch the monitor output knob on the AK. I dont have a lot of control over these functions because the AK driver automatically sets these parameters, or so it seems. Still, after 5 minutes or so of playing and testing volume and sounds, the madalas stop responding. I had this problem when they were just running through my pc(with no interface).

If turning the output knob on your interface causes cracking then
that's something you should look into independently of the Mandala.
If you set I/O and Signal Vector as high as they go just as a test
(should be able to get them to 1024 or so and if AK blocks this you'll
need to figure out how to get the AK to allow these settings) and you
still get crackling then there's a problem with the interface. Of
course you might have some kind of Mandala effect activated which is
overdriving the output, like distortion or any number of things.
Check that out by looking at FXRack1 and RXRack2 and also looking at
the output meters in the Main Window.

What OS are you? When peripherals drop off the system there's usually
a conflict with some other hardware or software or maybe even then way
something is set in your system.

i think i might know what the problem is. yes i do have to find a way to change settings, the weird thing is the AK doesn't eveb know the mandala brain is there, if you know what i mean. eventually, i will be using battery, so in that case i suppose i will abandon the VB altogether, perhaps that will make things less complicated, with a  better library. thanks for the advice

I've talked to people at Native Instruments and they use AK's with
their Mandalas and the VB. No audio interface will ever know what
software is running. Probably once you get a handle on the AK
settings independent of any software that's using it you'll have an
easier time with your audio output. If you can't change Driver Window
settings in the VB then the AK's driver control panel needs to be
configured. ASIO4ALL is the same way. If you set Buffer Size to 256
in the ASIO4ALL control panel then that will be the limit you can
choose for I/O Vector in the VB. The interface sets the rules.
