Winter Family Science Workshops Return!
Children ages 6-11 (with an accompanying adult) are invited to register now for this year's Winter Family Science Workshops. These fun hands-on events are run by UM Exhibit Museum of Natural History staff. The goal of the Workshops is to encourage families to explore new science concepts through hands-on experiments performed together. Class size is limited, so call 428-8045 or stop by the front desk today to register. You can sign up for just one class or for all three.
session 1 Sat. Jan. 22 at 10 a.m.
Water Wonders: What is water and what can it do? Water is amazing, it is the only thing on this planet that can exist in all 3 states (solid, liquid and gas) under normal conditions. How is this possible? We will explore how 2 hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom combine to make plants grow and paperclips float.
session 2
Sat. Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. Water World: Water = Life Water is essential for all life, but different organisms use it differently. Some things have adapted to living in it. Some (like us) use it in our cells. Explore the ways water affects life on Earth.
session 3 Sat. Mar. 5 at 10 a.m.
Water Wisdom All the water on the planet is all there ever will be. We will explore ways we use water everyday and how to be more responsible stewards of this precious resource.
The Workshops are a cooperative effort between Manchester District Library and the UM Exhibit Museum of Natural History. All area families are invited to participate; there is no charge to attend.
