Hi all!
I have just updated 5 (or so) WP versions in one go and i've had some major problems for the first time ever with this process.

One which I cannot fix so far is that my post-name permalinks no longer work.
This affects all my custom menus and links which i have placed within posts within the text.

A suggested fix is - change to default permalink setting within the dashboard and save - then change back to the post-name permalink setting and save.

But this generates a WP message "You should update your web.config now".

Does anyone know exactly how I should update my web.config?

I have found this in the wordpress forums
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/permalinks-you-should-update-your-webconfig-now
but the issue appears to be unresolved and i am loathe to start messing with web.config file without knowing exactly what i'm supposed to be doing.
Thanks!

I don't know anything about web.config other than it is used by Microsoft's web server. However, as long as you are changing your permalinks back to how they were when they worked, then the settings shouldn't really need changing.

Have you tried it?
