Hi All,

I have a client who's site has suddenly started having issues with uploading images.  The images take an age to load and there are occasional http error messages being displayed.  The hosting company says there is no issue at their end and the error log is giving the following error:  [10-Mar-2017 12:10:06 UTC] Error checking in buffer: The buffer you checked in was not checked out

Anyone got any idea what might be causing the problems?

Thanks

Sue

That message is a Jetpack message, related to Jetpack's syncing of all kinds of data with Automattic's servers. It sounds like it may be directly related to the use of Photon (because of the image upload connection), though other data is synced.

It does say in the code, that in the event of a sync error (the message above) it will retry later.

Best regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the info.  I have disabled Jetpack and also the W3TC caching plugin but still getting the same issue.  Although no error messages now the whole back end slows and the stops when uploading images.  It looks from the cPanel that the I/O usage is too high, although this may be to do with the fact that they are on cheap shared hosting :(

Migration to a new host is probably the next step.

It sounds like the error message is probably a symptom of the same thing (overloaded/underpowered hosting), rather than directly related to the upload images issue.
