Hi all,

I'm struggling with an issue that involves MemberPress "checkout
errors" and is also possibly related to general problems with iPhone
and iPad users accessing my site. I've been told (by MemberPress) that
this problem is unique to Siteground.

I'm attempting to gather more information about this, before opening
another ticket with Siteground. I wonder if there are any other
MemberPress/Sitegound users here who have experience with these
checkout errors and/or problems with iPhones.

And also, I guess, if anyone hosted somewhere other than Siteground has
seen MP Checkout Errors, or significant problems with iPhones/iPads,
that would be a valuable bit of information.

Thanks!

-Mike

Hi Mike,

If memberpress are sure it is unique to siteground, then it would be useful if they could give you some details.

My suspicion might be that it is to do with caching.

Some hosts automatically cache pages to speed up your site. This is a good thing, but some pages should not be cached.

They automatically know not to cache and admin pages, and the normal login page. Some may also exclude some other common pages like standard woo commerce pages  for instance: /checkout, /account, /cart, etc.

But as you can imagine this isn't always best for every site. For example, I always name my 'cart' page 'basket'. So if your memberpress checkout page is not a 'standard' name, or even if it is a subpage, that could be the problem.

I would get back on to memberpress and ask them exactly what the problem is with siteground, and ask them to give you help on what to report to siteground.

Hi Mike,

This isn't a caching issue. I have had quite a detailed discussion with
MP about this. They have been working with Siteground on it, and
eventually reached a "parting of the ways" each saying it's not their
problem.

My own experience is that both our siteground sites have (various)
problems with iDevices and (AFAICT) all of our checkout errors are on
such devices. So I am beginning to believe that this is a problem
unique to Apple devices. The question is, is it only on Siteground. I
have one "test" site on Blue Host, but I don't have any real users on
that site and, unfortunately I don't have any apple devices myself.

So before I go back to siteground, I guess I was hoping to get a little
bit more "ammunition" i.e., is anybody else seeing some sort of problem
with apple devices there.

Alternately, if I found out that any "non siteground" MP users were
seeing the checkout problems, then I would instead go back to MP about
it.

I've posted questions about this on a number of different forums where
(I might hope) that Memberpress users could be found. But so far, I
haven't gotten anything. I just thought I would give it a try here.

Unfortunately, so far as I can find, there is no (public) forum
dedicated to either Memberpress or to "comparing notes" on different
hosting providers. I you know of any such forum I'd love to hear about
it!
